The Binnendieze is the collective name of a number of streams in the city centre of ‘s-Hertogenbosch. Because the city hardly had any room to expand in the past, a large part of the Binnendieze has been overflowed over time, for example with houses. The present painting shows one of the most memorable spots of The Binnendieze, with a view of the buildings along the Molenstraat which are built on an overhang of the brook Vughterstroom. While bobbing on a boat, all city noise is reduced to the peace of the Middle Ages.
